Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune

4.25

There’s reasonable critique surrounding TJ Klune and this series specifically from him. This isn’t getting into that but if you’re interested, it’s very easily Google-able.

I really liked this one, just not as much as THITCS. Nothing brings me more joy than the children on this island and they were easily my favorite part of the book. I almost wish we didn’t have the adult POV and were just following the kids, even though it would lose a lot of the plot 🤣. I’ve gotten emotional at all the TJ Klune books I’ve read so far, but this time it didn’t come until the author’s note when he said he’d like to be known as the anti-JKR, someone who everyone’s stories can feel safe with. I love that.
