Puck & Prejudice by Lia Riley

1.0

Ugh. For starters, the MMC is a hockey goalie. Why is the cover of a guy dressed as a player?

Secondly, this is set in England and the FMC is English. Why are all the words in her 'chapters' utilising American spelling?

Third, implying the MMC has not only suggested the famous 'boiled potatoes' line from pride and Prejudice, but also the book title (accidentally, by the way. Apparently he has never heard of the book before suggesting the title), just felt so on the nose and lazy. Jane literally said 'her pride was hurt and his prejudice stopped them from being together' and our MMC goes 'oh, call it pride and prejudice'. And thinks about how he should ask his sister (a literary lecturer obsessed with Jane Austen) whether she's ever heard of a book by that name by Jane Austen. Please. Especially because the FMC keeps going on about how the MMC isn't like other men because he listens to women and what they want. Pffft.

I skimmed majority of this book, stopped at the spice, then continued skimming. This was not good.
