Missy: Meet the dazzling, unforgettable Missy, in this year's must-read debut by Raghav Rao

4.0

"Missy" by Raghav Rao is a masterful debut that explores the complexities of identity, culture, and family secrets. Savi, aka Missy, is a captivating protagonist whose journey from a Madras convent to Chicago's South Asian community is both heartbreaking and inspiring. The author skillfully weaves together themes of resilience, trauma, and redemption, expertly dismantling Missy's carefully constructed American dream to reveal the scars of her past. I loved reading Missy's character as a successful business owner and a mother. She was such a good mother to her daughters shilpa and mansi. After varun came in the picture, the drama unfolded and I was hooked to the story. I really liked that renuka akka got her closure at the end.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone who loves immigrant stories, family dramas, and strong female protagonists.
