The whole time I was reading this book, I was thinking “this must be what it’s like to read from the manic pixie dream girl’s point of view.” A girl with a quirky family, who has always been misunderstood, who is loud and unapologetically herself in a large part to keep out the silence and loneliness she feels inside.

I read this book (aside from the prologue) in one sitting. As I am writing this review at 9:30 AM, I have not slept because I couldn’t put it down. I was going into this expecting a lighthearted read and it turned out to be heartbreaking at points - just really hollowing out some old holes in my heart. I found connections with so many of the characters in the story.

There were parts of it that could have been pushed a bit further, but I couldn’t wait to see more of their stories and what happened next. This is my first Emily Henry book but I own Beach Read, too, and will be picking it up before the end of the summer.

I just love these books where you can sink into someone else’s lives and walk around for a little while. It is always so frustrating to read things like this where - if only they would COMMUNICATE they wouldn’t cause themselves and each other so much heartache.

And I wonder what their signs are, because I was waiting for their birthdays to be mentioned the whole time and it never happened!
