The Dark One by Nikki St. Crowe

I had no idea I needed a dark Peter Pan retelling, but now that I’m two books into this series, I don’t know if I’ll be content with the original story from now on! After The Never King, I was so Intrigued by Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, but I wanted more. The Dark One gives us that.
I loved how much we learned about Kas and Bash! Their story stole the show in this book. Their struggle choosing between the loyalty the have to Pan and their birthright was so well-written!
Vane’s story is coming to us slowly, but the more I learn, the more interesting he is, which is saying something because he’s been interesting since the moment Winnie first laid eyes on him. His friendship with Peter is one of my favorite things about this series, and I’m interested in seeing how it stands up once the Crocodile arrives.
Winnie finding her place in this world is so interesting. I could read about her spicy escapades with her men all day, but I want more for her. Thankfully, that cliffhanger promises we’ll get more in book three (how am I supposed to wait until September for that?!). I did love watching her build a bond with her guys in this book. Her breakthrough with Vane (and subsequent sexy times) really worked with his character. And her time with the twins…listen, I’m a lover of monster romances, so the vines really worked for me!
