This is the first installment in a new series and I think it set up the series nicely. Lyssandra was a fantastic main character and her story arc was complex as she unwillingly became a servant to a vampire, but she's also a vampire hunter. I loved the friendships that were explored and I'm excited to see those characters develop over more books. There's definitely a lot more background info to be shared as well as questions that have to be answered and I'm certainly looking forward to that. There was a slow burn sub plot here that I also liked and would love to see what will come of that and those characters. I thought it was nicely paced and the action didn't feel overwhelming. I really enjoyed this and I definitely will need more.
