Martin Eden by Jack London

reflective sad slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Character
  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Diverse cast of characters? No

2.0

Despite the descriptions taking up too much space, the story was quite smooth to follow, and I immediately liked Martin. As I finished the book I realised the story wasn't going anywhere, it's just a criticism of the bourgeoisie culminating in
Martin's suicide, disappointing.
