First of all, many thanks to BookSirens for the ARC of this book and also many thanks to Lori Freeland for writing such a beautiful book.
The story follows Jess (17 years old) who is a teenage romance writer who is launching her first book and due to fate (anxiety and running away from unpleasant people) she ends up on a staircase kissing Gabe Wade (18 years old) actor of one of the most popular series that exists. A situation that is a bit complicated since Gabe is not supposed to be there, much less be photographed in that place, so it occurs to him that the best way to avoid explaining himself is to have a fake girlfriend.
I honestly didn't think I would like the story so much, especially because in the synopsis they imply that everything happens in a week, but there was a phrase that convinced me that I should read this book: “But they both know what it's like to lose someone. . . "Someone who's still here." A somewhat strong quote because many times we believe that the only way for someone to leave us is for them to die but there are other ways and this is happening to both Jess and Gabe two strangers who find comfort and understanding with each other. While Jess pursues the idea of happiness in a past that cannot return Gabe searches for peace within the future that he has to hide.
And more than the story of them as main characters, we see the fight of two teenagers who really have a baggage the size of the world on their shoulders and the way in which they have survived no longer works, time is running out and they have to face each decision, promise and above all the past to be able to move forward.
Something that I did not expect is that a coming of age would destroy me so much, I did not expect to cry for each story of each character, there are so many spoilers that I would like to mention, speak badly of certain characters that I ended up hating, some that I forgive and understood the decisions and the behavior of others.

Primero que nada Muchas Gracias a BookSirens por el ARC de este libro y tambien muchas gracias a Lori Freeland por escribir un libro tan precioso.
La historia sigue a Jess (17 años) que es una escritora de romance adolescente que se encuentra en el lanzamiento de su primer libro y por cosas del destino (la ansiedad y huir de gente desagradable ) termina en una escalera besando a Gabe Wade (18 años) actor de una de las series más populares actualmente. Una situación que es un poco complicada dado que se supone que Gabe no debería estar y mucho menos ser fotografiado en ese lugar por lo tanto se le ocurre que la mejor manera de evitar dar explicaciones es tener una novia falsa.
Honestamente no creí que la historia me fuera a gustar tanto sobre todo porque en la sinopsis dan a entender que todo ocurre en una semana pero habia una frase que me convenció que debería leer este libro “But they both know what it's like to lose someone . . . someone who's still here.”. Una cita un tanto fuerte porque muchas veces creemos que la unica forma que alguien nos deje es que muera pero existen otras formas y esto les esta pasando tanto a Jess como a Gabe, dos extraños que encuentran consuelo y entendimiento uno con el otro. Mientras Jess persigue la idea de la felicidad en un pasado que no puede volver Gabe busca la paz dentro del futuro que tiene que ocultar.
Y es que más que la historia de ellos como personajes principales, vemos la lucha de dos adolescentes que realmente tienen un equipaje del tamaño del mundo sobre sus hombros y la manera en que han sobrevivido ya no funciona el tiempo se agota y tienen que enfrentar cada decisión, promesa y sobre todo el pasado para poder avanzar.
Algo que no esperaba es que un coming of age me fuera a destruir tanto, no esperaba llorar por cada historia de cada personaje hay tantos spoilers que quisiera mencionar, hablar mal de ciertos personajes que termine odiando, algunos que perdone y entendí las decisiones y el comportamiento de otros.
Muchas gracias a Lori Freeland por destruirme el corazón durante este libro y repararlo al final del mismo. <3
