The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin

5.0

This is the kind of magic that I wish was real. This was BEAUTIFUL! I loved the magic in this book, especially the way it was described. Witches get magic as a gift from the sun and it corresponds to one of the four seasons. But the main character is an Ever, who has access to all four types of magic and her personality changes based on which season's magic is the strongest. The witches also work hard to try and keep the atmosphere and the climate stable, but they are in the middle of a crisis due to climate change, which I thought was brilliant of the author to include! I loved the journey of self-love that the main character went on throughout the book, even if it took her a little long to get there. I loved her friends who called her out on her bullshit! I cried for the last like 50-60 pages of this, I just loved it so much.

And to think that this was a debut novel??? I'm so freaking excited for all that's to come from Rachel Griffin!
