I was really surprised at how simple this middle grade story was but so powerful in its message. A big beautiful oak tree in the centre of a neighbourhood watches over the animals it houses but more importantly, the people that live in the community by granting wishes once a year. This story is heartbreaking, uplifting and hopeful. Wonderful!
