The One by John Marrs
Did not finish book. Stopped at 0%.
Ugh.
[Rant ahead:
First of all, too much touching. Ew. Knock it off.
Second of all, NOBODY COMMUNICATES!!! People kept on wanting to tell America things and she was just like "uh I already know what ur going to say cause I'm smart like that so why dont you just leave me alone". How stupid are you America. Everybody keeps secrets, everybody goes behind each other's backs, and in the end the two get married even though America still hasn't explained the deal with Aspen? Like at this point they're just straight-up headed for infidelity.
Then there's the whole going with various persons at the same time, not hearing each other out, cheating, doing too much too soon and the sudden deaths at the end? I don't object to that, but America literally had no PTSD from watching Celeste GET SHOT IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD LIKE WHAT. Also, it felt like a cop-out to just kill the king off. Like, oh the Southern rebels are bad but they sure were convenient. (hide spoiler)]
Anyway. It annoyed me a lot, this book.
