Stupid Dirty by Erin Russell
5.0
Wow, this is a debut novel for this author and it is absolutely brilliant. What a journey these two MC's, Silas and Cade, have been on in their young 22 years of existence. Some really tough issues throughout this book. At first I assumed it was going to be a typical rivels to lovers story, but it was deep and gritty and yet overflowing with love. These two are hot together and create steamy intimate scenes. It takes a while before they realise they are attracted to each other, although, their close friends could have told them sooner; they could see it clear as day. Lots of layers to the story, we have the day to day stresses, topped off with parents who are unapologetic burdens and then there is the serene quietness they bring each other. They both had trauma in their lives from a young age and Silas especially has undiagnosed PTSD. They both have father's who drink and cause pain and suffering. Cade is a EMT and I can't shake the thought that this career was chosen to highlight his caretaker side, his compassion for people and a job people admire. It definitely made me sit him atop a pedestal. The secondary characters are visible, but not dominating in the story and I'm glad to read that Ford and Tristan are getting a story. A book truly deserving of 5 stars. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
