Who in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? by Rebecca Tinker
5.0
Where in the world has this show been my entire life?
How in the world did i never know about the badassness that is Carmen Sandiego?
What in the world is this story about?
How long in the world will i keep up this schtick of questions?
Yeah, this story uses that "where in the world" phrase about 50000 times and it's a 4 hour long audio book. It's cute, i get it. It fits with the whole Carmen Sandiego theme but ITS NOT THAT LONG OF BOOK!
So, if you are like me and fresh of the new animated Netflix Show where Gina Rodriguez voices Carmen Sandiego, this book will not disappoint. Who in the World is Carmen Sandiego is a great suppllement to the new Netflix show.
The first couple chapters are a retelling of the first episode but slightly expanded where we now have inner thoughts of all the big characters in the opening episodes. But what the book really expands on (like it's the entire book) is Carmen's time on Vile Island.
Not only do we get more dialogue and backstory to her childhood but SOO MUCH MORE depth to her year of school as an operative at Vile Academy. It was AWESOME! Seriously, if you have ever watched a show wanting more background and backstory for characters, than this is the exact type of book to read after watching the show. It doesn't give any spoilers to where the show goes beyond the first two episodes and just really expands on the initial backstory that Carmen gives Crackle on the train to Paris. We even get some insight to Chase, Julia and Crackle at different points in the present timeline.
Highly recommend picking this up if you are a fan of the netflix adaptation.
