I needed this warm hug. The warm embrace of a story that makes you feel so understood. The warm embrace towards life.
This story was an ode to mums and dads, to the hobbies you love, the little trinkets you love to keep, the friends and girlfriends you love to see, .... But most of all, this story was an ode to life.
Yes, I certainly got to shed a lot of tears. The warm hug I mentioned earlier manifested itself in those tears. I lost a very dear friend a few months ago which was very unexpected. After that loss, I went into quite a stream of questions. What if I die tomorrow, will I have lived happily? Have I done all the necessary activities I wanted to do? Have I expressed everything I wanted to express?
These may be the most cliché questions that exist when you are in a period of mourning, but I experienced these. And this book gave me all the support and answers to those questions. It was a beautiful reflection on the meaning of life and gratitude towards life. Despite being 202 pages, the book left a deep impression on me. An impression where I felt understood.
I highly recommend this book for those in grief and in need of a reflection of it. The need to find some similarity in your over-analysis of life after the loss of a loved one.
Among all the tears and laughs I expressed during this story, I learned most of all not to forget to express my gratitude for life.
