Be Not Afraid of Love: Lessons on Fear, Intimacy, and Connection by Mimi Zhu
4.0
mimi zhu’s story was a heartbreaking one to get into and yet their experience through it gives us this raw, unflinching and fulfilling book that teaches us that despite the hardships that we go through with love, the experience of our own that colours our notion of love, be not afraid of love.
in this book you get to be a part of something that was—or still is—so intimate to them that it felt like you were there with them and long to give them a hug but that’s just not possible. though i have never experienced any abuse in my own relationship—and god forbid i will never—i resonated deeply to the lessons that they have learned through this damaging relationship. i found my own fear that still roams around in my mind projected onto the pages and yet through it all, they reminded me relentlessly to be not afraid of love because love itself is a pure thing and that we all deserve it wholeheartedly.
a good read indeed and yet my heart still aches for mimi zhu
