A Realm of Dark Fury by R.D. Baker

5.0

It’s been five days now since I finished this book and I feel like I am finally ready to review without hurting myself all over again.

Firstly I want to preface by saying that I received this book as an ARC from the ever wonderful R.D. Baker, and while I get along famously with this Queen of Cliffhangers, all opinions, statements, and thoughts are my own.

“A Realm of Dark Fury” starts off with a literally killer prologue. Everyone in the Discord was mentioning how gutted and emotional they already felt after reading the handful of pages leading into our main story. I was one of them and should’ve known better, as this isn’t my first Baker rodeo. In the prologue, Baker starts the incision that she’ll use later to rip your heart from your chest.

The story follows Elara, the Fae Princess of Peyrus and Heir to the Sun Throne. She’s captured on the battlefield against the Seraph forces under the command of the annoyingly charismatic King Theron of Veles. He has her compete in a series of trials in a death pit to win back her freedom and pieces of her kingdom; people she cares about and the kingdom itself. Oh, and to prepare for these trials? He has her training with his most deadly servant, the devastatingly handsome Rook Norahi. Who also happens to be a Night Demon, Theron’s personal assassin, and Elara’s sworn enemy.

Over the course of these trials and training, the bond between Elara and Rook shifts and things start to not be what they seem. There are bigger things at play behind the scenes in Rook and Elara’s world, and the pieces on the board are moving.

In a book with everyone’s favourite fantasy tropes, there’s also plenty of triggers and emotionally damaging content. So please, read the full trigger list before diving in and make sure that you are prepared for the content of this fantastical dark high fantasy romance. Your mental health matters.

This book does end on a cliffhanger and will have you questioning so many things.

I’m giving “A Realm of Dark Fury” by R. D. Baker a 4.75/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating. It also received a
