An easy -at least to rate- 5 star read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is not my usual read but it's going to be one of my favourites of 2023 easily.
I've never read a second chance romance. I love the build up of a first time love way to much but this book gave me everything I wanted and broke my heart every second of the way.
The romance was beautiful, tragic and something you hope for and are terrified of all rolled into one.
The characters were real. I felt connected to every single one of them. There fears and worries so universally human that I feel like even a little tiny bit everyone who reads this can in some way relate to them.
I spent over 90 percent of the story crying. The other 10 percent spent actually sobbing into my pillow. I've never felt so connected to a character as I do with Harriet.
Some of the issues that come up could have been easily changed by having an open conversation but Harriet is the definition of every broken person. Broken from childhood trauma that you don't even realise your holding onto until something tries to break you further than you can.
I love her with all my heart and soul.
And Wyn being just as broken but in a very person defying way. That bright light in a friend group that disguises the second he's alone.
Never feeling like you belong until you find your people and that fear that one day like everything else that friendship that live will one day wash away is terrifying.
I love this book. Not because of what happens but because of emotions it brewed inside of me. The things it made me realise. The fears felt for years finally being acknowledged and talked about.
Family isn't blood. It also isn't easy to maintain. Life happens but knowing you have your people behind you every step of the way is what makes life truly beautiful.
Thank you Emily Henry for another amazing book.
