A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon by Sarah Hawley
4.0
The premise of this book is an unskilful witch, Mariel, accidentally summons a demon, Ozroth, and is bound to him until she gives up her soul and magic. They make the decision to fake date in face of Mariel's overbearing mother, Diana, and Mariel's friendship group.
This fantasy romance had me giggling! I had such a great time reading it. I adored both of the main characters, they were so well constructed and had amazing self-development as the story progresses, as well as the friendship group. I think the whole family berating and pressuring Mariel is hard to read, as its essentially emotional abuse, but it felt very real and relatable. I think it will be especially tough to read if this is a trigger for you.
There are a few well developed plot lines alongside the romance, particularly the environmental standpoint on the forest development and I was fully invested. As for the romance, the two main characters are so into each other and I felt giddy. There is some serious SPICE in this book too, I love it.
The ending felt a little rushed but overall it is just a solid fantasy romance and I am really looking forward to Sarah Hawley's next release A Demon's Guide to Wooing a Witch which I've already added to my TBR in anticipation.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
