Book 3 gives us all the answers about Wendell’s death. How does a story about a young ghost bring me so much joy and sadness?
On the surface you may think this series is a silly little thing about a sheet ghost but it’s actually quite profound, suitable for middle grade readers and adults.
There is so much grief on these pages. But there is also a heck of a lot of love.
I’m so glad Eliza returned. I loved seeing neurodivergent representation and her relationship with Marjorie is so sweet. Middle school is hard; Friendships at that age are really hard. I loved seeing that depicted here, along with a lesson on how to allow yourself to be friends with multiple people (and ghosts).
The title is genius. “Lights” as in a wash cycle but also for the lighting on a stage.
I’m in love with Brenna Thummler’s art style and the choice of pastels to color the pages.
I just really love this graphic novel and it’s two predecessors.
