The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri

4.0

I probably would’ve given this 5 stars if I hadn’t already read “The Namesake.” I found it to be more depressing and cold, but much more epic and sprawling across many more characters. So many are filled with heartbreak, know it, and know what they could change to draw themselves out of it. It bothered me how many spent years digging themselves into a hole. I liked the comparison to the few that find some bliss in a rough, cold world.
