The stories are interesting. The author truly does a great job with shocking thriller/crime stories. While graphic (comes with the territory), the forensic discussion and addressing of double standards in sexual assault cases is solid. My main problem with these, that I had hoped would change after the first book, even though I couldn't quite put my finger on it until this one; I don't really like the main characters. There are a few traits about each of them that are okay, but they all have so many traits that almost negate those things that you pity the supporting characters. At least one character seemed to develop a little more empathy through her past trauma.
Other than that, it was enough of a thriller to keep me reading.
