You're telling me I have to wait a whole flipping year before I find out what happens next?? This wait is gonna kill me.

Kippa. I adore that little fox girl, and will always stand by her. I love her loyalty, and how innocent she is. Some might call her naive, the way she continues to find love in her heart for Maika. Some might say she's wasting her time and risking her life. But I think that's what makes her selfless efforts that much more powerful. She isn't blinded by the same regrer, rage, and hurt that adults are. She does have an innocent mindset, maybe even a naive one, but that allows her to look at the situation through a clearer lense than even some of the adults. Plus, she's REALLY finding her voice here. It's so cute when she stands up for herself, but also very powerful. I'm proud of her.

Kippa also has a way of making me laugh when I least expect it. She's not even trying to be funny. She just IS. And so is Master Ren. The amount of expletives that comes out of his mouth amuses me to no end. He's exactly the way I imagine a talking cat to be. Stubborn, grumpy, and always cursing. But loyal to his friends, even when they're pissed at him and when he's doubting his own judgment.

Maika definitely had some moments though where I looked at her and thought, "I know you are a cornered animal attacking the people who are helping you because you've been deeply hurt and you're upset wity yourself, BUT fuck you." Fortunately, there was some redemption at the end there.

We didn't get much from the other characters we've become familiar with. This book has a much more limited scope than the others, but that also allowed us to explore this new area and new characters with a lot more depth. Was I still confused by what was happening? Yes. But I was just happy to be along for the ride, and I THINK it all made sense by the end.

The artwork, as always was stunning. That doesn't even begin to encompass it.

I just can't believe I have to wait a whole year, minimum, before volume 9 comes out. With THAT as an ending? You expect me to be patient? I simply have to know what's happening. Where they are, how much time has passed... I'm going to be thinking about this one for a while.
