Fascinating examination of the "heiress" phenomenon during the Guided Age! Lots of lists of which heiresses married which lords, tons of photos and illustrations, and lots of sidebars, quotes and tidbits in the margins. My only complaint is that in trying to include so many stories, its a bit hard to follow the chronography of what actually happened. Also, it would have been nice to have color illustrations - obviously the photos would be black and white. Excellent read!
