This is book 2 in the series, we know Dane and Christian from book 1 and hear of them getting together but something happens between them and nobody knows why they are no longer together. This book delves straight into their relationship just as they have freshly broken up. The reader has the foreknowledge regarding the incident that happened but Christian doesn't and when he witnesses something he has no other reason to believe there is an alternative explanation.
I immediately felt the pull between these two, the chemistry was very strong throughout and that kept you wanting them to sort everything out. It was painstaking watching Dane punish himself and push Christian away. Saying unforgivable words, only to have his heart and head mean the complete opposite. What a truly heartbreaking situation. Christian has his past trauma too and it doesn't take much to completely take away his trust. They really are perfect for each other, if only Dane would let people in. Christian is suddenly thrown in at the deep end when his half brother appears. He has had a troubled life, not unlike Dane. This was a great addition to the story, it gave Christian an insight into Dane's past and helped them navigate their relationship. There is angst throughout this book, lots of feelings and trauma to work through. It takes a lot therapy  talking and honesty to get through but the ending was perfect. I loved this story and can't wait to read the next in the series.
