If She Says Yes by Tasha L. Harrison

3.0

short fun

3.5 stars

I think I found this book/author through TikTok or some social platform. Either way I was pleasantly surprised to pick up a bwwm erotic love story where the man is younger and like bdsm play. I think Tomas and Darcy were an interesting pair and complemented one another really well - and the “Concierge of the mother of the groom -“ or whatever spiel that was was super cute (if only that aspect of their time together was played out longer!) 😅I just think what’s short of this being 4 stars or more is the fact that I feel like everything flew by in a haze and the premise of the novel only really kicked in at the 1/2way point. To shorten my rant here are some things I didn’t love/would’ve left out:

🛑⚠️SPOILERS AHEAD ⚠️🛑
*******************************
- The beginning of the novel, we’re instantly introduced to the MC masturbating in a public place. No thank you. I’m not a fan of graphic descriptions of a male penis in general so half the erotic scenes in this book just made me want to skip.
- The main plot takes place over 3-4 days for a wedding. I wish there were more scenes intimate scenes between them not just sex or flirting but doing wedding and date like things.
- Tomas’ Mexican heritage and use of Spanglish fell flat to me. Ending sentences in “hermosa” -with no apostrophe or italicization of the word to indicate it’s a foreign language-does not make it believable that he’s Latin!
- Tomas’ “secret” of him being submissive and needing a woman who can reign in his submissiveness - also kinda fell flat . I mean i think it was believable but they both feel more like a  “switch” couple to me
- Jared’s character rubbed me the wrong way. I kind of wish the wedding didn’t happen 🤣
- Random typos. There weren’t a lot in this book but enough that I noticed.
- The book cover. Feels a little - too blank?- if the model for Tomas was wearing a wedding tux that he was unbuttoning or if an older woman’s leg was poking into the frame I think it would add more personality and context to the book and excite me to read it as well.
- On a final note, I respect Darcy’s character a lot as it’s rare for a MC to have legitimate real life experiences (health, relationship, etc) outside of the current plot.  So kudos for that. The only thing that was no characteristic of her was the ending . Did home girl really liquidate her assets and sell her business? Does she still have other businesses? I get the point of it all but I’d want her to have plan B (and C!) at least!

Overall I think this was a cute short book erring more on the side of young guy older woman chick flick than a typical spicy novel. Interested in what happens next.
