A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

This is hands-down the BEST book in the ACOTAR series. It has everything - banter, romance, deceit, and twists & turns you'd never expect (unless you'd read the series before, like me).

Characters:
Ah, Feyre. She is such a great female lead IMO. Sometimes she makes stupid/ irrational decisions that most people would NEVER have chosen, but SJM needed something to continue writing about of course. I like how she changed throughout the story - how she realized how bad she was treated in the Spring Court and what her priorities really were. Rhys is such a sweetheart. I'd be just as honored as Feyre if I met someone like him in real life. He's caring, clever, and allows Feyre to do what she wants/needs to do. She was broken before him and he UNDERSTOOD. He helped piece her back together. And Mor is the best - a sass queen and so full of (as Feyre put it) joy and life and laughter. Azriel is always brooding, let's just be honest. Nesta is as lovely and charming as ever (not). Cassian is . . . well, Cassian. Amren is a little, hoarding she-devil. Tamlin is like Lucius Malfoy. Lucien, I hate to say it, is a weakling and a coward.

I'm gonna be honest - I really don't like detailed love scenes. They are distasteful to me and take up too much of the book's space when actual PROGRESS could've been made. The sexual tension between Rhys and Feyre was just a little (aka A LOT) over the top.

The actual plot was well-written and graphed out though. I liked that we got to learn more about the Fae world and how it works. I loved how the Night Court was set up and how Rhys gave EVERYTHING to protect the truth and I understand him now.

Favorite scene: Chapter 44 with Starfall. My heart flutters every time I think about it.
