Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
5.0
I'm very hard to please but this pleased me greatly. I laughed, cried, screamed, grieved and felt bitter anger for the characters all throughout the story.
I understand that it covers topics of suicide, sexual violence and domestic violence, war, colonisation, and your typical remarks about women's only real use is breeding, all triggering so be warned. Unfortunately all those things were common place in that time period and I felt Diana Gabaldon handled them as accurately and as respectfully as possible.
I can't stress this enough, if you personally don't like these topics and are uncomfortable with them and how they're treated in the 1700s, don't read it. This is absolutely not for you.
If you can tolerate them and a plethora of raunchy Highland sex scenes then grab your copy now!
Absolutely no shortage of romance and beautiful Highland men in kilts if you're interested in that.
Can't wait to read book 2 and follow the saga of Jamie and Claire and what their unexpected marriage brings.
