Read all of Salinger's books in the order in which they were written. Then, to make more sense of it, read _Raise High the Roofbeams, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction_, followed by "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" in _The Nine Stories_, and finally, _Franny and Zooey_.
