Children of Earth and Sky by Guy Gavriel Kay
5.0
Guy Gavriel Kay is just so reliable. I preordered Children of Earth and Sky as soon as I noticed it's coming, and read it right away when it appeared.
It sure didn't disappoint. Children of Earth and Sky sees a return to Europe after a couple of novels set in China. The main players in the story are Seressa (Venice), Dubrava (Dubrovnik), Senjan (Senj) and the Asharite empire (Ottomans).
There are several interesting story lines, and I just adore the way Kay weaves the plots together. I also really enjoy the way he drops them out, once he's done with them, leaving the reader with an explanation of what happened then. You get to see the fates play out, creating living history. A fascinating book, indeed.
Now it's another long wait for the next one, I'm afraid.
