Heat 2 by Michael Mann, Meg Gardiner
5.0
There are stretches of Michael Mann’s follow-up novel to his iconic film, Heat, that are as good, if not better than that original film.
The villain is so easily hatable, the structure of the narrative is so fascinating (simultaneously a prequel and a sequel), the characters from the movie are deepened and made even more complex, and the way it all comes together is nothing short of impressive.
Some may take issue with a few plot lines that feel unnecessary (the film may leave many people feeling similar), but I think it works well enough. A couple of the stories are more gripping than others, but I think they all have merit.
Very impressed by Michael Mann’s novel, excited to see it brought to life on the big screen at some point. Heat 2 rocks.
