The first half of this book was just plain depressing. But that was to set the stage and introduce the characters, including all the greedy business owners and corrupt politicians that were making life hell for everyone else. When karma started catching up with the rich, cruel characters, the story got really satisfying and unputdownable. Great dystopian / sci-fi comedy.
