A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham

I was really excited to read this one and it just unfortunately did not live up to the hype.
I mapped out the ending from the first time we met the murderers. It was incredibly predictable and also kind of boring. Many times the reader is told something that we've just been told but in a different way. It almost felt insulting that way everything was just soooo overly explained.
I really would have liked to see more of Chloe the psychologist who also deals with a drug addiction. Instead I got whiny Chloe who has it all figured out but simultaneously doesn't and also just gets dragged along by every man in her life.
The only thing that would have made this a 1 star review is if
So yeah, there was potential but it just fell flat. And honestly? Reminded me too much of Riley Sager. Even though I think this writing was better, the style and formula for the big reveal felt the same. And everyone knows I really do not like Sager!

Spoiler
she had ended up with Daniel. Even when I knew he wasn't the murderer he still seems like a manipulative abuser. He creeped me out and I hate how none of that was addressed after it was revealed that he wasn't the killer. So yeah, there was potential but it just fell flat. And honestly?
