I cannot continue to force myself to read whatever this is. I was here for a gothic vampire sapphic Dracula retelling and I got abhorrently bland characters, forced feminism, and bad writing.

The opportunity was there. Lucy is such a small character that the possibility to bring forth a delicious story. This needed more work.

I did like parts of Lucy’s journal. But the multiple POVs were not working. And the character of Iris is no no no thank you. She’s annoying and whiny and nothing about her compels me to be interested.

Maybe one day I’ll pick it back up. I may even buy it because my god is that cover damn gorgeous. It’s perfection, but alas only a mirage.

Nonetheless I wish to thank netgalley, del Rey and author for the opportunity to read this arc. I hope this book finds its audience.
