The Betrayals by Bridget Collins
2.0
2.5 stars.
If you asked me to tell you what this is about, even after I had read every single word, I simply couldn’t.
Bridget Collins’ novel, The Binding, is one of my favourite books ever and so going into this one I had incredibly high and possibly unrealistic expectations. Sadly, The Betrayals missed the mark for me in a number of ways. I didn’t particularly feel invested in any of the characters, I guessed the plot twist fairly early on and I just don’t understand the grand jeu at all which left me fairly confused at a number of points.
Other than the negatives, I cannot deny that Collins is a beautiful writer. The way she describes things is utterly stunning and her diction always leaves me in awe. I so wanted to love this and I’m upset I didn’t but I’m not going to let my bias towards Collins’ other work change my feelings for this one. I still love u Bridget Collins I just don’t love The Betrayals, soz!!!!!!
