Mr Good Enough: The case for choosing a Real Man over holding out for Mr Perfect by Lori Gottlieb, Lori Gottlieb

4.0

I read this over the month of October as I prepared to get married myself. I married my own Mr Perfect on 21st October 2022 and this book has provided a brilliant insight to marriage and how to find the right person for you. After reading this, I have learnt how to appreciate different qualities in my new husband that I didn't even consider before.
This book supported a lot of the marriage advice we have already been given from friends and family, for instance from my parents who are going to be celebrating 25 years of marriage in January. Personally, my favourite quote from the book was actually by Nietzsche "It is not a lack of love but lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages".
I studied Psychology at university and this book was right up my street. I enjoyed the layout of the book, the love-life journey Lori goes through herself, and the supporting psychological studies as evidence. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
