Phew - a lot is happening in this book, and I enjoyed each. Sometimes, alternating descriptions and thoughts in the third person for each character in mere paragraphs is too disjointed and confusing, but I found that Elin Hilderbrand could make it work. Also, I loved getting to know each character, their stories, and their DRAMA! It kept me guessing, which I appreciated, although I admit I sometimes wanted things to be wrapped up instead of throwing another mystery into the mix.
Additionally, while it was nice to learn pieces of each of the characters, there were so many it was hard to go deeper into the backgrounds and descriptions of their life. This is ok because Hilderbrand shared so many characters, and there was a whole plot to ensure it was wrapped up, but sometimes when I read, I like to better understand the characters' experiences and other short stories. That was hard to do here, and rightfully so.
Regardless, it was a lovely read. I decided to switch things up and read this in winter, which was beautiful, so I could escape my 20-degree weather to pretend I was in summer at Nantucket. It swept me in, and I appreciated the writing. This book was the first I read from Elin Hilderbrand, so I look forward to reading others in the future!
