Bad Company: An Empowering Lesbian Antihero Science Fiction Fantasy Adventure by L. Fergus

5.0

4.5 stars. More new Angels have joined the ranks. My favourite was Spades. I also enjoyed Kita's adopted daughter Ocean's character development as she strove to learn as much as possible and use that knowledge to shapeshift and develop her powers. There was excellent continuation of Kita's struggle with her bipolar--it added drama and showed other characters' true colours through their willingness to be there for Kita and help find a way to handle it.
The ending didn't make sense, however:
Spoiler It's unlikely Kita would become friendly again with a certain someone after the horrifying, inexcusable (even by Kita's standards) things they did to one of her Angels, not to mention the other atrocities they committed. She needs their help, but it would have made more sense if she begrudgingly made peace with them or beat them up first, rather than talking in private to her Angels, explaining the person deserved a second chance. It seemed out of character even for Kita. Could it be a ploy to gain their trust and use it against them? Knowing how Kita's always one step ahead, it could very well be.
