Loathe at First Sight by Suzanne Park

I enjoyed this book, although it is definitely not the romance I expected from the cover or the title. It's as if perhaps the author could only get it published by marketing it as a romance. Which is too bad because what it is is a really great story about a Korean-American woman taking on a sexist industry, dealing with sexual harassment, racism, and parental expectations. I loved her spiky, assertive, humorous personality and the way that she gets her initially reluctant team on board with her, and asks for help from friends to somehow make a successful video game, with no support from her company and in fact with active interference from the company. There is also a sideline plot about her two married friends which I was less into, and a sideline romance plot which was sweet but a very minor part of the plot. And, her parents are kind of caricatures...so yes, there were problems. But I would definitely read another book by this author.
