The Dispatcher by John Scalzi

5.0

My second time through this audiobook, and I loved it just as much as the first time. Scalzi is incredibly good at adding small sci-fi details into otherwise regular stories. The sci-fi bits don't take away from the action, they're explained well, and the characters all react realistically to them--I'm pretty sure that if people all of a sudden started coming back to life after being murdered, there would be a lot of philosophical and religious questioning going on.
The main character of this story is a wonderfully (morally) gray character. He definitely has done some shady things in the past, which adds to the overall depth of his narration of the story. I've loved everything I've read by Scalzi, and this novella is no exception.
