Really wonderful novel. The twist was not surprising, but that's not the point. This was a wonderfully introspective and creepy book. The third act was truly chilling (on the level of Hill House for me). I'll definitely reread it at some point because I truly think it'll be even better the second time through.
This book is NOT for everyone. In fact, I'd say most people won't enjoy it because it's weird and winding and slow, but if you go into it with an open mind, I think you might be pleasantly surprised.
Also: if you watched the movie adaptation, you should know the book is a completely different experience. The director/screenwriter made some huge changes to the movie, so liking or disliking one doesn't rule out liking or disliking the other. I loved the book and found the movie to be pretty unbearable.
