A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
5.0
A Gathering of Shadows is a wonderful second installment to A Darker Shade of Magic. V.E Schwab has wonderful characters and a beautiful world which she has continued to create in AGOS. Schwab has a way of writing that is compelling and fast paced that kept me engaged and interested in what would happen. There were times where I thought it would be straight forward and I knew what was going to happen, but I was pleasantly surprised that what I expected to happen, didn't.
A Gathering of Shadows has multiple perspectives like A Darker Shade of Magic, from Lila, Kell, and Rhy. Lila, who took off at the end of ADSOM, has found her way onto a ship, and part of a crew. Kell, who is feeling trapped with his connection to Rhy, and Rhy who is planning the Essen Tasch, a huge magical competition between Arnesia, Vask, and Faro. But something is brewing in White London, and things will start to change.
I really enjoyed reading this sequel, and am excited to be able to read A Conjuring of Light! I just wish that it didn't take so long for the paperback version to come out!
