Van Ness does a deep dive into some contemporary social issues whilst blending stories from their own life. This is definitely a de-tour from 'Over The Top', but certainly not an unwelcome one. The book does include mentions of animal death, HIV/AIDS, transphobia, mentions of drug use and casual sex - for anyone who is planning to pick it up.
