Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
5.0
There were so many things I loved about this and I think I'll do a proper review soon, but for now here are some quick (spoilery) thoughts:
- I related a lot to the main characters struggle with anxiety and a lot of her thoughts and feelings resonated a lot with me
- I loved how her anxiety and ocd wasn't 'cured', and that John Green went on to say that it's a lifelong struggle and that you will have your ups and downs, but life can still be meaningful and wonderful despite your illness.
- I liked how the relationship didn't last. First loves rarely last in real life and many YA books are unrealistic in this sense and the way the relationship ended was so beautiful even though it was sad.
- the friendship was wonderful and the issues that they had were addressed really thoughtfully and realistically for people with a mental illness.
- star wars fanfic. enough said.
