Golden retrievers are one of my favourite dogs and Bailey is super cute in this book. 
   He's a very loveable dog and I loved reading from his perspective.
    The book is adorable and for the most part a light hearted read where we follow this dog as he meets his boy. Which my favourite thing Bailey does is Ethan is his boy. He has to protect Ethan. 
   There bond is cute. Please don't tally up how many times I say cute. That's what it is! A cute book! 
   It does get more tense at the end I will say so if you're getting it for your dog loving kid make sure you check the warnings and choose for yourself if you're kid would be okay with it. Here's a spoiler for anyone curious:

Ethan is friends with a troubled kid named Todd who always seems to have an attraction to fire. At the end of the book after Ethan gets in a fight with him Todd sets Ethans house on fire. Ethan is in said house and has to jump out of his window with Bailey very nervous for his boy. Todd also gets bit by Bailey due to setting the fire.

  
   I read this when I was younger and was okay with it but I read paranormal stories as a kid. All kids are different.
