The Lean Startup: How Today's Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses by Eric Ries
4.0
4.5 / 5 stars
I’ve always seen this book on people’s recommended list for new entrepreneurs to read, and as an entrepreneur and employee at a startup firm myself, I knew I couldn’t miss the chance to pick up this book. I didn’t know what I would quite gain from this book firsthand but, The Lean Startup is an excellent lens into the success of new-age agile methodology principles that gear startups and innovative businesses on the path to sustainable growth
Anyone who’s familiar with engineering or software development is probably 95% familiar with the concepts of this book. It’s very conceptual, I must say. But this book doesn’t just tout a software engineering methodology. It explains how lean agile development in the broad spectrum of things is part of the life cycle that an innovative business should operate on. Not just tech businesses, or businesses that sell products. Businesses of all types, pricing plans, sizes, and industries can thrive with the agile-centric concepts that author Eric Ries lays out.
As I read through this book, my fears about bringing an app idea I had to fruition were placated because of the rich company examples and reiterated advice from the author. It’s rare that a technical book on entrepreneurship and innovation balances the scientific aspect to a method and the bigger-picture aspect
Well written, easy to read, and a very practical guide —-not step by step memo on how to build a sustainable business the right way.
