Noir-ish and enigmatic as any Murakami story. Also, somewhat typically for him, the ending is somewhat unsatisfying - at least after the first reading. Perhaps with subsequent readings I will get something out of it that I did not this time. Despite that, I can't help but give it five stars. There is just something about the experience of reading a Murakami novel that makes all the mystery and inscrutableness worth it.
