The New Me by Halle Butler
5.0
now i’m torn on whether this really gets five stars, but perhaps i will bump it down later (i did). this is a wonderful character study without any real plot. it is cyclical and will drive you crazy. this REALLY reminded me of Eileen by Moshfegh but a more tame and 21st century version. I personally enjoyed reading it more than Eileen because I felt like I could relate to it (also, the ending is boring and NOTHING like the plot twists that occur in Eileen, which def makes it more boring than that book in hindsight). The writing itself is interesting to read and I liked walking through life with Millie.
