Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

4.0

I read this novel in anticipation for the upcoming Bridgerton series and I found myself enjoying it quite a bit ✨

The big reveal of this novel was unfortunately spoiled for me in the last season of the TV show, but in classic Quinn fashion, this didn’t really matter. I say that because Quinn writes as though she recognises that her audience can put two and two together, so she doesn’t string us along or leave us hanging. This, in turn, means that I love the pacing of Quinn’s novels as I get to where I want to be in the story at a good moment!

Another element I enjoy in her novels is the tension between newly weds. Whilst the books are dramatic and whimsical, I like the acknowledgement that the basis of some of the Bridgerton relationships aren’t exactly based on solid foundations so there are shortfalls to work through.

Overall, yes, Quinn’s plot points and pacing tend to be mirrors of her previous installments of the series. But, this predictability is a comfort because I know that I’ll get exactly what I’m looking for when I pick up a Bridgerton book!
