Overview
This is a list of 100 20th-century books written by women. This list is comprised of 100 of the most frequently repeated books when about 250 or so women writers and critics, various writers in a private writer forum, and about 30 male novelists, critics, and poets were asked to name their favorite/most recommended books of the 20th century written by women.
Erica Jong originally compiled this list and it can be viewed alongside her reason for compilation on her web page.
Several books on this list are no longer in regular print. As such the books have been organized in order of most (#1) to least popular (#100) with the 10 least popular books (#91-#100) set as "bonus" books, as they could be difficult to get your hands on.
