This reading order goes mostly by publication date except for Elantris and it's companion short story, The Hope for Elantris, which I tucked in after Mistborn Era 1 because the original Mistborn trilogy is the best place to start your Cosmere journey. 

All of the short fiction on this list published prior to 2016 is included in the Cosmere short story collection, Arcanum Unbounded. This collection also features additional information about prominent planets in the Cosmere so it's a must read for Cosmere fans.
